Meet Dennis Hopson
Dennis is a native of Toledo, Ohio where he attended and graduated from Bowsher High School. While at Bowsher high school, he was a standout basketball player who received many awards and accolades including the following; two-time All-State, All-City, The City League Player of the Year, All-Time leading scorer and rebounder. Upon his graduation from Bowsher high school, he chose to continue his basketball career at The Ohio State University. While at Ohio State Dennis continued his basketball dominance in the state of Ohio setting and still holding a record for the OSU All-time leading scorer, averaging 29 points a game.
After a successful career as a student-athlete at Ohio State University, Dennis was the 3rd overall NBA draft pick in 1987 by the New Jersey Nets. He spent three years with the Nets, and then played for the Chicago Bulls and Sacramento Kings. During his time with the Bulls they won the NBA Championship in the 1990-91 season. Moving on from the NBA, Dennis decided to venture his talents overseas to continue to play professionally for 8 more years. After his time overseas, Dennis retired from playing in 2000 and began his coaching career. He now has more than 30 years of combined coaching, recruiting, and playing experience under his belt. Dennis has returned home to Toledo, Ohio as the Head Men's Basketball Coach at Lourdes University where he is continuing his passion of developing, teaching, and mentoring the youth of Northwest Ohio in the game of life and basketball.
